Leave your Heart in San Francisco
Take a chartered bus from Dominican campus to San Francisco. Do some sightseeing, ride a cable car and enjoy dinner either on your own or with our VIP Dominican student guides. Choices include Ghiradella Square, Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39, and Chinatown. You can leave your heart in this wonderful city by the bay but the bus will deliver you back to Dominican at the end of the fun filled evening. Cost: $15 for bus transportation plus cable car fee and dinner expenses.
Option Two
Downtown San Rafael
A short 20 minute walk gets you to 4th street where you will find a variety of cuisines to enjoy a delicious meal. Then meander down to The Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center which presents the best of independent US, classic and international cinema. Complete your evening with a treat from Cold Stone, Ben and Jerry’s or double Rainbow all within a block or two of the theater. Cost: Dinner, movie ($9) and perhaps a cab ride back to Dominican
Take a chartered mini-bus to the SF side of the Golden Gate Bridge and walk its span to the Marin county side. There you will be picked up and driven through part of the Golden Gate National Park for views of the city before heading back to marvelous Marin. Bring a jacket as it is usually windy across the Golden Gate. Cost: $15
Option Two
Travel to a Marin county jewel: Muir Woods. This National Monument preserves the last old growth coast redwood forest in the San Francisco Bay Area. The cool moist forest supports a surprising abundance of plant and animal life, from the coast redwood (the tallest type of tree on Earth), to the slimy banana slug, from the amazing Coho salmon to delicate trilliums. This forest refuge welcomes visitors from all over the world to experience the magic of the redwood forest. Cost: $10 Entrance fee and transportation
Option Three
Hiking at China Camp State Park
Take a short drive to this natural watershed along the shores of San Francisco Bay. Features include an extensive intertidal salt marsh, meadow and oak habitats, that are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels and numerous birds. Cost: free
