Mechatronic systems blur the line between the mechanical and electrical domains. These systems are characterized by tight coordination between electrical components, control systems, actuators, sensors, and computer resources, enabling the desired outcome. In the Mechatronic Systems Lab (MSL) at Villanova University (VU) we are focused on the design and control of these systems with a specific focus on how image-based controls can be used. The systems studied in this lab range from the very small (scanning probe microscopes) to more typically sized mechatronic systems (mobile robots).
