Speaker and Poster Guidelines

Instructions for BIOGEOMON 2012 oral presentations

Note: We plan to upload all oral presentations to the BIOGEOMON 2012 conference web site as a pdf file. If you do NOT wish that your presentation is made available on the web site, please inform us (at theregistration desk) when you register.

Contributed speakers

Contributing speakers' time is limited to 20 minutes, which includes discussion time (15 minute talk + 5 minute discussion). Speakers are kindly asked to keep their presentation within the given time. Movement between sessions should occur during the time for discussion or at scheduled breaks.

PowerPoint presentations are recommended (10-16 slides).

Please use PowerPoint version 1997-2003 or newer.

Speakers should deliver and view/check their PowerPoint presentation in the Ducktrap Room of Erickson Hall the day before their sessions.

Speakers should locate their session room in advance and be there at least 10 minutes prior the start of the session. Speakers should make themselves known to the theme leader and co-leader before the beginning of the session.

There will be awards for the best three student oral presentations for the conference.

Name your presentation: session#_lastname_firstname.ppt, e.g., 1_Norton_Stephen.ppt

Theme plenary speakers

Theme plenary speakers' time is limited to 30 minutes, which includes discussion time (25 minute talk + 5 minute discussion). Speakers are kindly asked to keep their presentation within the given time.

PowerPoint presentations are recommended.

Please use PowerPoint version 1997-2003 or newer.

Speakers should deliver and view/check their PowerPoint presentation in the Ducktrap Room of Erickson Hall the day before their sessions.

Name the presentation: session#_lastname_firstname_TP.ppt, e.g., 1_Norton_Stephen_TP.ppt

 

Plenary speakers

Plenary speakers' time is limited to 40 minutes, which also includes discussion time.

PowerPoint presentations are recommended.

Please use PowerPoint version 1997-2003 or newer.

Speakers should deliver and view/check their PowerPoint presentation prior to the start of the plenary session.

Name the presentation: lastname_firstname_PL.ppt, e.g.,

Norton_Stephen_PL.ppt

 

Instructions for BIOGEOMON 2012 posters

Posters should not exceed 4 x 4 ft (122 x 122 cm).

The area of the poster stand is 8 feet (wide) x 4 feet (height). There will be two posters mounted side by side, on both sides of the poster stand, for a total of 4 posters per stand. The poster can be attached by poster putty, which will be available.

Posters should be in place by noon on Monday, July 16th.

Posters are clustered by theme.

In addition to the title, the poster should clearly indicate the author(s) and affiliation, but otherwise you are free to make the layout as you wish. Judges will recommend awards for the three best student posters. These awards are for students who are first author, and you must be present during the judging, which will occur on Monday afternoon (4:30-6:00 PM). 

Your poster will be issued a number and this number will be used to identify your poster stand.
