Vince Costanzo's Projects Page
Welcome. Two projects that were performed by Vince Costanzo are
available here.
Vibrating String Research Project
- This project was performed at the Center for Nonlinear Analysis 2000
Summer Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. It was revised and
presented for departmental honors in mathematics at the Villanova Mathematics Colloquium. It examines the behavior of a vibrating string with a point
mass located at its midpoint and uniform density elsewhere.

Maple Maptools package
- The second project is the Maple maptools package created at Villanova during the spring of 2001 in
MAT5900:
Seminar in Cartographiometry. It is a set of Maple functions that aid the
(mathematical) cartographer by making the map generation process easier.
The user provides maptools with a function that describes a projection and
maptools creates a
plot of the projection, showing the coastlines and the graticule.
