Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Head Start is a federally and community funded program providing “economically disadvantaged children [age three to five] the opportunity to begin school with the same experiences and learned skills as other children”. Day programs incorporate education, including special education, as well as mental health services, medical treatment, and nutritional services.

Programs take place at the Paoli Presbyterian Church, 225 S. Valley Road in Paoli and at the Kennett Presbyterian Church, 211 S. Broad St. in Kennett Square.

This volunteer opportunity may be of particular interest to Early Education majors, Human Services majors, or Spanish majors (Kennett Square program has a 90% Spanish speaking population), Peace and Justice minors, as well as anyone who loves children or wishes to learn more about the farm worker community of Kennett Square.
