St. Edmond’s Home for Children
320 St. Roberts Rd. 610.525.8800 St. Edmond’s Home for Children, created in 1916 by Archbishop Edmond Prendergast, located to its current Rosemont facility in 1956. Less than ten minutes from Villanova, St. Edmond’s is dedicated to providing quality care for children up to the age of twenty-one who have mental retardation. The majority of the forty residents are non-verbal and have severe to profound MR. St. Edmond’s provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, recreational therapy, as well as religious education at the level of the child’s understanding for all residents. Volunteer opportunities may be of particular interest to Special Education majors, Nursing majors, and Human Services majors. Contact: Jackie Paylor, Activities Director, available 12 – 8 p.m. Monday through Friday Volunteer Opportunities St. Edmond’s is flexible with volunteers. Individuals and groups as large as ten volunteers can schedule to volunteer regularly - once a week, twice a month. Large groups of up to thirty volunteers can be accommodated for special events or specific days.
