Welcome to the website of the Spires, Villanova University's premiere all-male a cappella group!

Updates:

* Congratulations to a fantastic new class of Spires which include five talented underclassmen!  We welcome sophomore Eric Chen, and freshmen Alex Kersten, Chris Denny, Russell Quiñones, and Colby Haring.  We are really excited to have them in the group and we're just as excited for you to hear them.

The Spires are pleased to announce that we will be the opening act for world famous Irish tenor, Ronan Tynan, at an upcoming performance in Ocean City, NJ.  The concert will take place at the Music Pier on December 10th.  Hope to see you there.

After a fantastic 2008-2009 year, one that included trips to New York,  Massachusetts,  Virginia and an incredible tour of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, collaborations with many other college groups near and far, and even the production of our first music video, we are anxious to start the 2009-2010 year.  The Spires will be releasing a new studio recorded album this fall and are currently completing another album as well. The group will be under the leadership of seniors Kevin Lavery, the executive director, and Jonathan Limberakis, the musical director, who are excited to takes the reins after the fantastic graduating class of 2009.

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2009-2010 year, we are excited for a number of upcoming events, including many trips to visit other groups around the east coast, and a potential trip to Disney World!   The Spires have also been asked to audition for an upcoming a capella competition that will air on NBC in the near future.  There also have been rumors of another performance collaboration with the lovely ladies of the Villanova Dance Team, and of course singing at the Villanova men's basketball games both at the Pavilion and the Wachovia Center!

Stay tuned for more news of upcoming performances, and check out the newly updated photos section for this semester!

A little about us...
The Spires are the selective subgroup of the Villanova Singers that is limited to 14 members at any one time. We sing a variety of popular music and have toured across the U.S., as well as such international destinations as Ireland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Canada, Spain, Brazil, and more. We can most often be found entertaining audiences on Villanova's campus and in the greater Philadelphia area.

The group was founded in the late 1950's mainly as a barbershop singing group. However, in the early 1960's, members Jim Croce, now-producer Tommy West, and Tim Hauser of "Manhattan Transfer" helped steer the group toward a more contemporary sound. Over the years, the music kept evolving into what we are today. As they've done for over 50 years, the Spires continue to produce a great sound and put on an exciting live show.
