Welcome to the website of the Spires, Villanova University's premiere all-male a cappella group!

Updates:

The school year has begun!  The Spires are back and more ready than ever to put on a great show!  Congratulations to Andres Ortiz-Gomez, Nick Petrosino, and Dave Soto, three stellar incoming freshman that have just joined the Spires - we're looking forward to the talent they'll bring to the group!  We know they'll keep the Spires going helping to entertain at our exciting live shows!

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2008-2009 year, we are excited for a number of upcoming events, including potential trips to Ocean City, Baltimore, New York,  and Boston, and a DEFINITE trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the Spring!  There also have been rumors of another performance collaboration with the lovely ladies of the Villanova Dance Team, and of course singing at the Villanova men's basketball games.

Stay tuned for more news of upcoming performances!

A little about us...
The Spires is the selective subgroup of the Villanova Singers that is limited to 14 members at any one time. We sing a variety of popular music and have toured across the U.S., as well as such international destinations as Ireland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Canada, Spain, and more. We can most often be found entertaining audiences on Villanova's campus and in the greater Philadelphia area.

The group was founded in the late 1950's mainly as a barbershop singing group. However, in the early 1960's, members Jim Croce, now-producer Tommy West, and Tim Hauser of "Manhattan Transfer" helped steer the group toward a more contemporary sound. Over the years, the music kept evolving into what we are today. As they've done for over 50 years, the Spires continue to produce a great sound and put on an exciting live show.
